Join the Sierra Club Maine Chapter, City Arborist Mark Reiland, and us for a native tree planting and park cleanup at Deering Oaks Park. Participants are welcome to join the tree planting, cleanup, or both!
Join us for a volunteer tree planting day at Evergreen Cemetery on Wednesday, May 6, 4–6pm (rain date May 13), as part of a multi-year effort to plant over 80 trees, adding 15–20 this season, with all tools provided, thanks to a generous gift in memory of Val Healey; RSVP today!

Join us at the Eastern Prom for our last knotweed removal series of the season! In partnership with the City of Portland, Maine Audubon, Munjoy Hill Neighborhood Association, and Friends of the Eastern Promenade, we’ll remove invasive knotweed and plant native species.
Meeting location: near where the food truck park
Join the Portland Parks Conservancy and the Portland Lantern Walk on Sunday, October 19th, 2025 for a 100% local, free event celebrating art, light, and community.
The evening kicks off at 5 PM with music and art at the bandstage led by Emilia Dahlin, followed by a 6 PM lantern walk through our beloved community spaces.
ASL interpretation will be provided, and there will be free lantern-making workshops.
All ages are welcome!
Join City of Portland Park Ranger Liz Collado for our 3rd Thursday Walk and Talk. We will visit parts of Portland’s Freedom Trail and highlight some of the remarkable people and places connected to Maine’s African American history. It will be a relaxed, celebratory walk with opportunities to enjoy the trail and pick up a few stories along the way .
Thursday, October 16, from 4-5pm
We’ll meet at the Franklin Street Wharf, the starting point of the Portland Freedom Trail, also known as the Maine State Pier.
Parking is available on nearby streets or in downtown garages within a short walk of the Wharf.
Please come dressed according to the weather and wear sturdy shoes, there will be some walking up and down hills and uneven terrain.

Trail building and maintenance at North Deering Park (Portland's newest park!). Involves transporting (in wheelbarrows), spreading, raking and tamping gravel and stonedust to create and improve pathways. There may be some light brushwork as well.
BYO lunch/snacks, work/gardening gloves, water and bug repellent (just in case). Wear closed-to shoes and comfortable clothes.
