Trails, Bikes & Outdoor Films at Riverton Trolley Park

Join us on Thursday, September 18 for an evening full of community, activity, and film at Riverton Trolley Park!

Highlights include: 

  • Third Thursday Walk & Talk (5-6pm) - Explore the history and future of Riverton Trolley Park with former City Arborist Jeff Tarling. We’ll meet in the parking lot by the entrance. RSVP today!

  • Bike Clinic - Learn bike tips and skills at the new bike park with the Greater Portland New England Mountain Bike Association.

  • Food Truck: Meet on the Street - Grab a bite while enjoying the park atmosphere.

  • Battery Steele Brewing Special - $5 pints for GPNEMBA members.

  • Maine Outdoor Film Festival (7pm)- Multiple films will be shown, including the premiere of Riverton Rising. Click here to see full line up & learn more!

  • Parking: Parking is available at Riverton Trolley Park. If the lot is full, participants may use the Hannaford parking lot across the street.

United Way Day of Action

Trail building and maintenance at North Deering Park (Portland's newest park!). Involves transporting (in wheelbarrows), spreading, raking and tamping gravel and stonedust to create and improve pathways. There may be some light brushwork as well. 

BYO lunch/snacks, work/gardening gloves, water and bug repellent (just in case). Wear closed-to shoes and comfortable clothes.

Riverton Trolley Bike Ribbon Cutting

Join us for the ribbon cutting of Portland’s first-ever dedicated bike park on May 14th at 4 pm.

Riverton Trolley Park, once a fishing site for Wabanaki people, later a canning factory and amusement park is entering a bold new chapter.

Thanks to a partnership between Portland Parks Conservancy, City of Portland, Maine , and local supporters New England Mountain Bike Association (NEMBA) and Maine Trail Builders , Riverton Trolley Park is being reimagined as a vibrant hub for biking and community connection.
