Celebrating Our 2025 Volunteer Season and Amazing Volunteers

As the 2025 volunteer season comes to a close, we at Portland Parks Conservancy are thrilled to reflect on an incredible year of community engagement and stewardship. This past season, we hosted approximately 40 volunteer opportunities across the city, bringing together passionate residents, local businesses, corporate teams, schools, and even visitors from outside Portland, all dedicated to making our city’s parks more beautiful and welcoming.

Our volunteer efforts this year spanned a wide variety of activities, from removing Japanese knotweed at the Eastern Prom to collecting trash at parks across the city, including Deering Oaks, Back Cove, Payson Park, Riverton Trolley Park, and more. We also hosted trail work projects at North Deering Park, where groups of volunteers rolled up their sleeves to improve accessibility and maintain the natural beauty of the trails. One of the highlights of the season was our citywide cleanup, an inspiring effort that showcased the collective commitment of Portland’s community members to care for shared spaces.

Over the course of the season, 439 volunteers contributed around 1,270 hours, and collecting about 360 trash bags. These numbers tell a story of collaboration, generosity, and dedication to the green spaces that are the heart of our communities.

Parks are more than just recreational spaces, they are central hubs where communities come together, where children play, neighbors connect, and everyone has a place to enjoy nature. Being able to bring so many groups into our parks, from corporate teams to students to individuals who simply love Portland, and witnessing their desire to give back, is inspiring. Each hour volunteered, each trail maintained, and each bag of trash collected directly contributes to creating welcoming spaces for everyone.

We are incredibly grateful to every volunteer who participated in 2025. Your efforts have a lasting impact on Portland’s neighborhoods and the people who enjoy these parks every day. We’re already looking forward to the next volunteer season and the chance to engage even more community members in keeping Portland’s parks vibrant, thriving, and accessible for all.

Thank you for helping us make Portland a cleaner, and more connected city.
