New faces at Portland Parks Conservancy

Portland Parks Conservancy is delighted to welcome three new people who will be working on various projects for the Conservancy and its programs this summer.

Raine Raynor

Marketing and Design Intern, Portland Parks Conservancy

Having worked previously with other Maine-based nonprofits, Raine is excited to join Portland Parks Conservancy this summer as a media and marketing intern. A graduate of Bowdoin College, she has spent the last year living in Portland and loves discovering green spaces hidden throughout the city. In fact, her apartment is a bit of a green space itself thanks to the several houseplants who live there. Raine is looking forward to promoting the Conservancy’s mission and projects and getting to know Portland’s parks more through her work!

Kate Shambaugh

Volunteer Coordinator, Portland Parks Conservancy

Kate came back to Maine again, where she grew up, after graduating from Smith College. She has worked in outdoor education around Maine teaching long division and environmental conservation. With a background in behavioral neuroscience, she has decided to refocus on her roots and preserving our local environment and helping others find their own ways to help out in their communities. In her free time, Kate loves kayaking the local lakes and rivers, hiking with her wild puppy, drinking piña coladas and getting caught in the rain.

Having grown up in South Portland, Michael Vincent is thrilled and honored to be assisting with the inaugural Portland Youth Corps program! Known by many as 'Ranger Mike,' he is a 7 year veteran of the New York City Urban Park Rangers, where he specialized in interpretive programs for youth and families such as outdoor survival skills and history tours. After leaving NYC, Mike spent almost 6 years living in Maui, Hawai'i with his wife, Katy, and their dog, "Ranger". While in Maui, Mike was an lead educator at The Hawai'i Nature Center in 'Iao Valley. Now that he is back home in Maine, Mike is really looking forward to lots of hikes, kayak trips, enjoying Portland's foodie scene, and reveling in his new role connecting people to the natural world as a Portland Ranger.
