Thank you, Nan!

I am writing today to share the news that Nan Cumming, the founding executive director of the Portland Parks Conservancy, is retiring at the end of the year.  This is exciting news for Nan and we will send her off on this next adventure with well wishes and a heart full of gratitude for all she has done to help launch and grow the Conservancy.

Since Nan joined the Conservancy as our first executive director five years ago, we have accomplished a great deal. Under Nan’s leadership we supported the ADA inclusive playground at the Talbot School, created the Portland Youth Corps, started a robust volunteer program, led a community engagement process and raised significant funds for the rehabilitation of Riverton Trolley Park, and secured $2,145,000 in federal funds for the new Portland Harbor Common.  We are now deeply engaged in the development of that new park as well as North Deering Park.

None of this would have happened without Nan’s tireless commitment to our mission and her ability to engage the support of donors and partners like you.  She is leaving us with a strong organization and a great foundation for the future.

Nan let the board know of her plans to retire last month so we would have six months to secure a new executive director and allow for a smooth transition.

Please join me in thanking Nan for all she’s done for the parks and for the City of Portland.

 Best,

 Anna Ginn
